Due to the insurgency by Boko Haram terrorists that have driven millions
 from their communities, women in Lake Chad are forced into prostitution
 to survive, The International Committee of the Red Coss (ICRC) said on 
Thursday.<br />

The violence has displaced more than 2.4 million people across the 
swamplands of Lake Chad, where the borders of Chad, Cameroon, Niger and 
Nigeria meet, and disrupted the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of 
others, ICRC says.
Up to a million people have been cut off from humanitarian aid by Boko 
Haram despite a regional military offensive against the Islamist 
militants, according to the United Nations.<br />
It's (extraordinary) ... to see a woman and her family and they have 
nothing other than what they've been given. The children are clearly 
malnourished and it's just hopeless," said Simon Brooks, head of ICRC's 
delegation in Cameroon.<br />

As the head of their households, some mothers have been forced to sell 
sex so they could feed their family, since many no longer have husbands 
because of the conflict, Brooks said.

"When you don't have the means to survive, you'll go begging for it. 
It's a loss of dignity when you're having to resort to something like 
that just to keep your children alive - fraternising with people who 
have money."
 </blockquote>
<blockquote>
The unfolding catastrophe in the Lake Chad basin was named the most 
neglected crisis of 2016 in a poll of aid agencies by the Thomson 
Reuters Foundation.
Overshadowed by the wars in Syria and Iraq and the global refugee and 
migrant crisis, Lake Chad has barely made the headlines, Brooks said 
during an interview in London.
More than 7 million people lack food but insecurity makes it hard for 
aid agencies to reach the most vulnerable. </blockquote>
<blockquote>
Half a million children are severely acutely malnourished and on the 
brink of death if they are not treated, Brooks said.
"This area has suffered from decades of chronic neglect ... if it 
continues to be under-funded and under-reported, then millions of people
 will continue to suffer," he said.</blockquote>

U.S President Barack Obama has finally explained why he doesn't ever use
 the term 'Islamic Terrorism' when describing deadly terrorist attacks 
carried out by ISIS, saying ISIS' activities affect all including 
Christians and Muslims.<br />

Obama has been criticized by a lot of political observers and even 
Donald Trump for purposely refusing to refer to ISIS as Islamic 
terrorists, saying the U.S president has refused to acknowledge that the
 terror group use Islam to defend their wicked acts. </div>

At a CNN presidential town hall meeting today, Obama was then asked to 
defend why he refused to say "Islamic" terrorism to a Gold Star mother.</div>

"My son gave his life for acts of terrorism," audience member Tina 
Houchins told Obama at the meeting. "Do you still believe that the acts 
of terrorism are done for the self-proclaimed Islamic religious motive? 
And if you do, why do you still refuse to use the term ... Islamic

Obama then said that the danger of using the term 'Islamic Terrorism' 
stems from when  "a president or people aspiring to become president get
 loose with this language." to which CNN moderator Jake Tapper 
interjected saying he was referring to Donald Trump, but Obama denied 
that was the case.</div>

 "You were clearly talking about the Republican nominee Donald Trump just then --" </blockquote>

"No, I wasn't," Obama dismissed Tapper swiftly. "It's not unique to the

base, I don't insert partisan politics into this. I think that there 
have been a number of public figures where you start hearing commentary 
that is dangerous. Because what it starts doing is it starts dividing us
 up as Americans."</blockquote>

Journalist Femi Owolabi shared this update. Few days ago, he revealed 
that students have finally returned to school in Chibok town (Read <a href="http://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2016/07/years-after-some-schools-in-chibok-town.html">here</a>)
 The school is however not in a good condition. According to him, these 
photos show the state of the Junior Day Secondary School - the only 
school currently functioning in Chibok. <br />

The school which has been neglected for years, serves as a primary 
(morning) and secondary (afternoon) school for the children attending.<br />

In a related development, he however noted that Government Girls' 
Secondary School, where more than 200 girls were abducted in 2014 by 
Boko Haram, is now under construction and is being handled by the

Two people have been confirmed dead and 16 others injured after a yet to
 be identified person opened fire at a nightclub in the Florida city of 
Fort Myers in the early hours of today July 25th.<br />
<br />
The night club was hosting a party for teenagers when the incident 
occurred. Children as young as 13 years were believed to have been 
caught in the shooting. Sky News quoted one witness as saying that she 
heard around 30 gunshots from the scene and believed that these came 
from a number of weapons. A 14-year-old boy was reportedly one of the 
victims killed.<br />

Efforts are currently being made to evacuate the injured out of the 
scene. This incident comes a month after a massive shooting at a gay 
night club in Orlando, Florida left 49 people dead. A person of interest
 has been detained.<br />

In a new statement released by Niger Delta Avengers spokesperson, 
Brig.Gen Mudoch Agbinio, the militant group claim to blown up another 
pipeline, this time in Akwa Ibom state.<br />

 the NDA blow up Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) gas 
pipeline at Nsit-Ibom L.G.A, Akwa Ibom state. NNPC should check their 
pipeline if its system Anomaly."

Media reports in Germany have cited local police saying that several 
people have been injured and six people feared dead as a gunman went on
 rampage in the Olympia shopping center in Munich, southern Germany Friday evening. </div>

The assailant entered
 the shopping mall and randomly opened fire on people in a cafe located 
at the centre. Then the shooter left the mall and headed towards a 
railway, German BR24 news reports, adding that the shooter is apparently

talks with the Niger Delta militants to stem the tide of attacks on oil 
installations in the region, notable militant group, Niger Delta 
Avengers, released a statement on their website saying they are not

 attention has been drawn to media report that the President is in touch
 with Niger Delta agitators including the Niger Delta Avengers but the 
truth is that  we are not aware of any peace talk.

their mercenaries set to disturb the genuine struggle of the agitators. 
President Buhari led government is not sincere to the Nigeria people and
 their foreign allies.

If we are to engage in any peace talk we made it clear that the 
international community must be part of it. The President know our 
demands. So they should stop deceiving the international oil companies,

An Indian military plane with 29 people on board has gone missing over 
the Bay of Bengal which is the largest bay in the world and is found at 
the northeastern part of the Indian Ocean.<br />
<br />
 According to the Indian Air Force (IAF), the Antonov-32 transporter 
aircraft took off from Chennai (Madras) at 08:30 local time (03:00 GMT),
 bound for Port Blair in the eastern archipelago of Andaman and Nicobar.
 It was scheduled to land at 11:30. A search operation has been 
launched.<br />
<br />
The plane was carrying service personnel to strategic islands near the Malacca Straits, where India has a military base.

ISIS has claimed responsibility for Thursday's deadly truck attack in 
Nice, France, according to a statement released this morning by the 
group's media outlet.<br />

Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, a 31-year-old Tunisian citizen and resident 
of Nice who worked as a delivery man, drove a truck into a crowd during 
Bastille Day celebrations, killing at least 84 people and injuring 202 
others. Four children remain in critical condition.<br />
<br />
The Aamaq news agency on Saturday cited a "security source" as saying 
the attacker - it did not name Bouhlel "carried out the operation in 
response to calls to target the citizens of coalition countries fighting
 the Islamic State." The group also described the attacker as a
