The Chairman, Nigerian Governors Forum, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari has said
that it is important that government representatives meet with labour
union leaders to take a decision whether to review the minimum wage of
N18,000 or downsize its workforce.
Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari who is the Governor of Zamfara State after a meeting with President Buhari behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa Abuja said the NGF should not be seen as anti-labour, The governor said the sharp drop in oil price had resulted in huge reductions of federal allocations to states.
He added that some states get as low as N55M monthly as federal allocation and there was no way they would continue borrowing to service overheads.
