Viewers were left in a state of confusion after Nigel Harman's performance at the National Television Awards on Wednesday evening.
The Downton Abbey actor offered a sneak peek of X Factor spoof musical, I Can't Sing!, in which he plays a character based on judge, Simon Cowell.
However his rendition of the song Fabulous from the show - written by comedian Harry Hill - was labelled as a 'camp tribute act' by fans.
One viewers named Grace took to Twitter to say: 'Nigel Harman u were my childhood love and now you've RUINED it with that hideously camp performance'.
Sam Marner echoed her feelings: '#NTAs Nigel Harman was 'fabulous' but the camp - Cowell? Totes not feeling it'.
Claire Vaughan continued: 'Why is Nigel Harman playing Simon Cowell as some kind of camp tribute act! #NTAs', while another viewer, who writes under the name of Kelly, said: 'Is Nigel Harman purposely being very camp? Oh and incredibly s**t? #NTAs'.
Laura Winn added: 'Love how camp Nigel Harman plays Simon Cowell'.
However, Simon Cowell himself certainly saw the amusing side and gave his approval, telling his 9.2 million followers: 'I am fabulous. And so was Nigel. Very very funny.'
The TV mogul wasn't the only one who enjoyed the rendition, with fan Danielle Paterson writing: 'Nigel Harman as Simon Cowell #hilarious #NTAs', while Dan said: '#NTAs nigel harman is a legend haha great simon cowell impression'.
Jack Malin added: 'Nigel Harman has got Simon Cowell don't to a T! #excellent'.
Simon, 54, also took to the social network later in the evening to offer his congratulations to Ant and Dec who took home three awards.
He commented: 'It's ant and dec's night tonight. So well deserved. I really like you guys', after the presenting duo collected the Landmark Award.
I Can't Sing! will open at the London Palladium on March 26 with previews taking place from February 27.
