'Sadly at the time, I thought Kym would never leave Jamie so I decided it was time to get out,' he told the Daily Mirror.'Oliver said he was unsure whether their clandestine relationship was the cause of Kym's divorce or just the catalyst due to existing problems. But he added '...I'm glad Kym split from Jamie. He didn't make her happy.'
Mellor says that he thought that he and Marsh were in love, but when the actor eventually called time on the relationship, he claims Kym was upset that it was coming to an end, but also sad about being caught between her love for Oliver, and the love for her family.

Mellor insists the
chemistry between them was ‘too strong to ignore’ after they shared
scenes on Coronation Street in 2013.
‘We loved each other and we weren’t afraid to say it,’ he told Gemma Aldridge of the Sunday Mirror. ‘It wasn’t something we intended to happen, but we couldn’t stop our feelings.'
The 32-year-old made his first appearance on the long-running soap as Dr. Matt Carter in 2010, but it would be a further three years before he shared a scene with show regular Kym.
‘We loved each other and we weren’t afraid to say it,’ he told Gemma Aldridge of the Sunday Mirror. ‘It wasn’t something we intended to happen, but we couldn’t stop our feelings.'

When the story broke of the 'affair' in October last year, neither Kym or Jamie commented, but Lomas did tweet Oliver directly, writing 'you need to come see me' before deleting it ten minutes later.The actor has since moved on with new girlfriend Rhian, while Kym remains single following her recent divorce from Jamie, who was recently spotted in Los Angeles with young model Chloe Peers.
