President
 Buhari has made it clear to Senators that he will not assent to the 
Social Media Bill being pushed forward by the senate. President Buhari 
made his position known through his Senior Special Assistant to Media 
and publicity Shehu Garba. He said the principle of the bill was 
inconsistent with democratic ideals of free speech enshrined in the 
Nigerian constitution, stressing that he had sworn while coming into 
office to uphold the dictates of the constitution.<br />

"He
 is not averse to lawful regulation, so long as that is done within the 
ambit of the constitution which he swore to uphold. The President won’t 
assent to any legislation that may be inconsistent with the constitution

He further explained that 
without free speech, elected representatives won’t be able to‎ have a 
good connection with their electorates<br />

“As
 a key component of democratic principles are so emotionally attached to
 free speech that they would defend it with all their might”, he said.

 that Delta State Government, yesterday, revealed that there's a teenage
 gay cult in Warri called Yansh. The teenagers who are said to be from 
ages 15 to 18 reportedly live in rented apartments close to Enerhen 
Junction, Warri, where gay men come to sleep with them and pay them.<br /><br />This
 was revealed by the Delta state governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, yesterday 
during his Easter message to Deltans at the First Baptist Church in

"These are our sons and men come to 
sleep with them. It is through the Edu Marshals Programme that we 
discovered them. We used to know about female harlots, now we have male 
harlots. Unfortunately they are young boys. There is much government can

The foresights on which the planning of the country were based at independence have been jettisoned for measures that sustain impressions that the country does not have a future. A simple example is the infrastructure used in distributing fuel, when it is available.<br /><br />The railways distributed fuel for more than 15 years after independence. The facilities for fuel distribution are evident at the ports where the rails criss-crossed into the fuel depots, whether they were imported or blended locally.<br /><br />The same rail system runs through most of the industrial estates that the regional governments established. At Ikeja Industrial Estate, disused rail lines are still visible in the compounds of most of the industries. The same applied to industrial estates elsewhere. Most of the manufacturing hubs were located by the rails for easy movements of their finished goods to the markets and transportation of raw materials from the ports.<br /><br />The madness that goes on in Lagos, in the name of fuel tankers loading from facilities in Apapa, is a manifestation of blindness to planning. How does anyone expect that tanks bearing 33,000 litres of products would cover the country, especially now that professional pipeline breakers have defeated that once economic means of moving products around?<br /><br />Everyday the tankers block the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, Nigeria’s main access to her busiest ports, waiting for their turn to load products. Where there is product scarcity, the lines of trucks, heading to the ports, and tankers waiting petroleum products can stretch for kilometres.<br /><br />The situation exacerbates security issues on the route. Additionally, the pressure from the heavy presence of these huge trucks is already damaging the road that is under re-construction. The bridges on the route are at greater risks. Most of them have become the parking lots of these heavy vehicles. The dangers the practice pose to the health of the bridges are merely discussed.<br /><br />If the rails worked, they would have been evacuating goods from the ports and the fuel terminals with greater ease. There is also need to improve ports outside Lagos.<br /><br />Congestions at the Lagos ports make it imperative for government to hasten the re-development of the ports in Calabar, Port Harcourt, and Warri. The neglect visited on them hugely accounts for the chaos at the Lagos ports.<br /><br />Some experts have argued that if the other ports were working, the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and the Benin-Shagamu Expressway, which frequently decay from the weight of the imports from Lagos ports, would have longer life spans. The saving could be enormous and invested on other infrastructure.<br /><br />Without the rails and more ports, governments would keep wasting resources on over-burdened roads.</div>

Abuja—The military said yesterday that 11 terrorists were killed when the troops engaged the terrorists in a gun duel while some of them were apprehended as they attempted to escape to Cameroon through Taraba and Adamawa borders.<br /><br />The Director, Defence Information and Coordinator of Joint Information Centre, Counter terrorism Campaign Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, who disclosed this in a statement yesterday<br />said the insurgents were attacked by troops on patrol of the areas in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign.<br /><br />According to him, “the terrorists were trapped following the ongoing offensive launched by troops along the borders. Some of them could no longer bear the hunger in their make-shift camps at the forest. Those apprehended led the troops to some hideouts where fierce fighting ensued and seven terrorists died, while Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, rifles and 70 motorcycles were recovered.”<br /><br />The director said “a similar encounter in Gumbi also led to the death of four other terrorists.”<br /><br />See more photos here<br /><br />He added that sustained patrols and searches by the Joint Task Force had led to the arrest of more insurgents, including a heavily armed suspect, who claimed dual nationalities of Chad and Burkina-Faso. Olukolade said the suspect was arrested with different calibre of arms along the Chad border.<br /><br />The defence spokesman said members of the task force were patrolling areas around the Lake Chad, including Kwatan, Kanwa, Kwatan Yobe and other areas to apprehend more of the insurgents.<br />In a related development, fear has gripped Yola, the Adamawa State Capital following the discovery of  102 live ammunitions and two guns tucked in the perimeter fence of Damare Secondary School in Damere Ward of Yola, South Local Government Adamawa State.<br /><br />The development has created anxiety among residents who said they sleep with their two eyes open following the intensification of armed robbery in Yola and environs in recent times despite the state of emergency and curfew imposed in the town.<br /><br />The weapons were discovered by children who were playing around the area according to eyewitnesses.<br />“Some children who were playing around the area spotted the ammunitions tucked deeply inside the block holes and quickly raised alarm”, a resident stated.<br /><br />According to him, “When residents observed that they were live ammunitions, they called the police who came and demolished the fence leading to the discovery of large number of live ammunitions and guns,” the source said.<br /></div>

sprang from; it's simply from NAIJA. Nai+wood=Nollywood. In an interview
 with Best of Nollywood, actor cum Producer, Yomi Fabiyi spoke at length
 about the name change and his opinion about the Nollywood at 20 
celebration. "At the inception of the name 
Nollywood, we all embraced it with open arms without even probing the 
source. As time went by, few flashes of some ill motives surfaced but 
one is careful raising an unfounded intentions until some set of people 
wish to celebrate Nollywood and think it is write to say its 20years 
just to promote a seemingly tribalistic intention. We have notable movie
 icons and veterans from all clans and tribes who are behind this and 
trust me they will be known much more later. But if you sample people's 
opinion, if they won't hide behind a finger, they will tell you 
Nollywood name is not a unifying factor and no government whatsoever 
should support such henceforth<br />
On What he hopes to achieve with this? <br />
The
 change is already in the pipeline and no matter how long it takes, the 
genuine vanguards will not stop and the government needs to understand 
our position on this as well as the media. Its not a fight against an 
individual or group of people. We are fighting against injustice to 
history and heritage. Silence is a sin and a damage to us as well as 
people coming behind will do damage to our integrity. The change will 
give birth to an original acronymn conceived by Nigerians from a genuine
 and historical point of view. An acronymn that will have a working 
committee behind it and unify the entire entertainers. It will involve 
all entertainers that have acted in a movie or used movies to propagate 
their works.<br />
Have you asked yourself why 20years with d name 
Nollywood. A name we all believe represent Nigerian Movie Industry. The 
change will be effective if sane and honest film makers begin to 
blatantly debunk and decline any event, parastatal associated to the 
name Nollywood and explain to them the motive behind and the seemingly 
division and tribalistic traits it potends. It will spread like wide 
fire, God grant us long life.<br />
We would have maintain with 
Nollywood irrespective of how we got the name but some set of people who
 by virtue of the support they get from the Federal Government feels 
they can use that to force an ill-history and heritage on the entire 
nation. President Goodluck, most of all these Governors when very young 
grew up to the existence of movies in Nigeria now they gave out people's
 sweat and fortune to celebrate such mediocrity. It is a shame and the 
future may not favour them and their legacies too because they are 
watching this happen.<br />
He continued, "If some Nigerians over 
50years ago out of bravery, quest for quality and national pride could 
shoot films on celluloid, a medium regarded as a definition for movie 
amongst world film makers can have them shrugged off history with a 
celebration to what they represent and die doing then there is need for 
serious concern."<br />
If all the media and stakeholders wash your 
hands against the historical injustice the "NOLLYWOOD @20″ does to the 
movie industry and dead and living movie icons I am sure you can't wash 
their CONSCIENCE. If you feed from this noble industry, remembered some 
laboured with their lives decades over decades ago to sustain it. I will
 keep saying my own, no malice is intended, I am not after any 
individual but the truth must be told." He concluded.<br />

The Lagos state Commissioner for Transportation, Comrade Kayode Opeifa

The Nigerian Senate have officially banned same sex marriage in Nigeria.
 Man + Man = Not allowed. Woman + Woman = Go to prison. :-). Only a

1. A marriage contract or civil union entered into between persons of 
same sex by virtue a certificate issued by a foreign country shall be 
void in Nigeria.<br />
2. Marriage or civil union entered into between persons of same sex shall not be solemnized in <a href="http://www.blogger.com/null" name="more"></a>any place of worship either Church or Mosque or any other place whatsoever called in Nigeria.<br />
3. Only marriage contracted between a man and a woman either under 
Islamic Law, Customary Law or the Marriage Act is recognized as valid in
 Nigeria.<br />
4. Persons that entered into a same sex marriage or civil union 
contract commit an offense and are jointly liable on conviction to a 
term of 14 years imprisonment each.<br />
5. Any persons or group of persons that administers, witnesses, 
screens, abet and aids the solemnization of a same sex marriage contract
 or civil union or supports the registration, operation of gay clubs, 
societies and organizations, processions or meetings in Nigeria commits 
an offense and liable on conviction to a term of 10 years imprisonment.</blockquote>
The bill awaits the approval of President Goodluck Jonathan.</div>

According to a breaking news report by Channels TV, 37 PDP House of Reps
 members yesterday Dec 18th defected to All Progressive Congress, APC. The 
lawmakers say there defection is 
as a result of the factionalisation and division currently rocking the 
PDP. There defection they say is in line with Section 68 subsection 1G
