The Standards Organization of Nigeria, SON, said it has destroyed substandard goods worth N5 billion in the first eleven months of 2014.
While addressing journalists during the destruction of some of the goods yesterday at the agencies dumpsite in Shagamu, Ogun State, the Head, Inspectorate and Compliance of SON, Bede Obayi, said most of the goods were brought into the country through unapproved routes along the borders in different parts of the country and are of low quality which might cause hazards to citizens.

Among the sub-standard products destroyed were electronics, armoured cables, tyres, expired supermarket breakfast cereals, extension sockets, mini-led flashlights, rechargeable lamps, shaving sticks, mobile phones, stabilizers, engine oil, ‎and ball pens.
