The singer announced on Twitter that she will play Christian Grey's sister Mia on Monday night while attending the British Fashion Awards 2013.
In her tweet, Rita wrote: 'It's official! I've been cast in @FiftyShades of Grey as Christian's sister Mia.'
A fitting outfit: Rita Ora wears a grey
sequinned dress to the British Fashion Awards as she announces on
Twitter that she will star in Fifty Shades Of Grey
Ora had acting training while studying at the Sylvia Young Theatre School in her youth, and in the past has appeared in the 2004 film Spivs, as well as last year's Fast & Furious 6, where she played a racer.
One wonders what her best friend Cara Delevingne thinks of the casting, as she failed to gain a part in the highly anticipated S&M trilogy.
Soon Rita will be heading to Vancouver where the twisted and sexually charged world of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele is beginning to take form.
From page to screen: Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan begin filming Fifty Shades Of Grey in Vancouver, Canada
Introducing Ana and Christian: Johnson and Dornan transform into the world's most famous BDSM couple
Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson were spotted on the first day of filming as the actors transformed themselves into the beloved sadomasochistic couple. In the scene, disciplinarian Christian is having a cup of coffee with the wide-eye innocent Ana.
The setting depicts the scene of the book in which the 27-year-old millionaire asks out the college senior after she stumbles through her initial interview with the intimidating entrepreneur.
Setting the scene: The duo film the scene in
which Ana and Christian grab coffee after the college senior arrives for
a photo shoot of the young businessman
The look: Dornan wore a three-piece suit for scene in which Christian gets to know Ana
In the novel,
the coffee date portrays the couple's initial 'getting to know you'
conversation, in which Christian first sparks a serious interest in the
young woman as he grills Ana about her life and her family. For the date at the coffee shop, 31-year-old Northern Irish actor donned a dark three-piece suit. Worn without a tie, the white shirt collar was unbuttoned as he sat down with Ana.
In the scene, the 24-year-old daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith wore a dark green military jacket with a navy blue and white scarf tied around her neck.
Role of a lifetime: Dornan nabbed the part of Christian Grey after Charlie Hunnam exited the project
Past lives: Before playing Christian Grey, Dornan starred in Marie Antoinette and Once Upon A Time
Hair today, gone tomorrow: Johnson got into character by cutting and dying her natural blonde tresses
Ana's world: To play the part of Anastasia
Steele, Johnson began going to the gym on a regular basis so she could
feel comfortable in the nude scenes
The journey of E.
L. James' Fifty Shades Of Grey from page to screen originally began
back in early 2012, when a bidding war broke out over the rights. Once the dust settled, Universal Pictures and Focus Features came out the winners, securing the rights to the book trilogy.
In June, it was announced that director Sam Taylor-Wood would helm the highly-anticipated adaptation.
In September, James announced via Twitter that the main roles of Christian and Ana were to be played by Johnson and Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam.
Two to go: Fifty Shades of Grey is just the first book in the Grey trilogy
However, the following October Universal announced that Hunnam would be exiting the project due to scheduling conflicts and personal reasons.
The following week, it was announced that the former Sheriff Graham from ABC's Once Upon a Time would play the part of Grey.
The film version of the book also stars Eloise Mumford as Kate, Luke Grimes as Elliot and Jennifer Ehle as Carla, Ana's mother.
The release date for the first film in the trilogy is set for February 2015, just in time for Valentine's Day.
Coming soon: Fifty Shades Of Grey will head to cinemas in February 2015
