New look: X Factor contestant Sam Bailey is worlds apart from her former appearance after losing nearly two stone in weight
Speaking to the magazine, Sam admitted she feels 'super cool' in the ensemble, saying; 'Sparkles are a festive classic but I love this more sophisticated modern style.'
Sam previously credited the chef in the X Factor house for helping ensure she maintains a healthy, balanced diet - something she was never able to have during her work as a prison officer.
As she was: Sam's less preened appearance at her
first X Factor audition earned her the nickname 'Screwbo', but she
looked incredible while performing on the show last weekend (right)
'I was working a 41-hour week before and didn’t have time to eat three meals a day. This is the first time I’ve eaten properly.'
In addition to sticking to a healthy diet, Sam has also been exercising, and became a regular at her local gym at the Hilton Hotel in Leicester before the live shows began.
Trainer Tom Mangan told the Daily Mirror in early November of Sam's regime: 'It’s a whole life change for Sam. The primary aim is to lose weight and secondary to that is to tone up.
'Since the first audition she has already lost a stone and a half. She is doing great and half-way through her target.'
Tom has even devised a workout plan for Sam to follow in the house, ensuring she is keeping up with her exercise regime during her time on the live shows.
He said: 'She does a work-out called Tabata training which is a high intensity 4- minute session and is the quickest way to lose fat.
'She has found a little space in the house and does body weight exercises every night which are short and sharp.'
And Sam's new look has done everything to boost her chances of winning the show, with online bookmakers Bwin currently offering odds of 1/2 for Sam to win the show.
The full feature on Sam is in this week's Closer magazine, out now.
